This giant painting is from sketches from a recent visit to São Miguel Island in the Azores is of Sete Cidades. It features two lakes, one blue and one green, located in the crater of a volcano. Legend has it, the two lakes are formed from the tears of separated lovers - with the two distinct lake colors reflecting their eye colors.

São Miguel, known as the green island, is covered with lush flowers and plant life, reflected in the foreground of this painting.
